I hope this was my affirmation...

A few months ago, I was jumped all over on GD for having the audacity to yell at Sentinel. See, Sentinel told this story about an elderly WHITE woman who walked through the grocery store somewhere with a knife in her shoulder, and nobody said anything. I got on Sentinel's case because there was really no reason to mention the fact that the woman was white. Her age and gender were important in establishing the fact that someone should have helped her, beyond that, her race was unimportant. And since Serlinel had been racist in the past, any racism coming from him, subtle or not, should be enough to call him on it. And yet everyone got on my case, saying what I pointed out wasn't important, and I shouldn't have factored in his past racism when reading his post.

Well, he's at it again, this time in the Pit, being his usual racist (and misogynistic) asswipe self. So, to all those people who told me I was overreacting in the original GD thread for calling him on subtle racism, I have a question. Am I supposed to ignore it unless it's overt?

No, you shouldn't ignore it. You should speak your mind. You always did before. What's "overt" If it quacks like a duck, let him have it.

Incidentally, I didn't think you overreacted in the first place, and I was going to say so, but you were doing okay on your own.

You should have, Wally. As I recall, NOBODY came to my defense, which basically made me think I was the only person who read that thread and thought anything was wrong with it.

I disremember the details, but I think I saw your post, said okay to myself and never went back.

Welcome to Fathom, Drain!!!

::: hands you your basket of welcome goodies complete with canned goods and welcome to the neighborhood coupons:::

Ohh and please... feel free to toss a couple cans in that guys general direction in my name. Who knows..... maybe if your aim is good, a bout of amnesia will help with those prejudicial tendencies since common sense, reasoning or pointing out the obvious doesn't seem to work.

Hmmm I am thinking tho, you may not need the 50 cent off coupon on the box of matches sold in the BMZ, as I do believe, you already know how to light Satan's fire.

::goes on her nonsensical merry way.....posting and sending greetings toO all the newbies:::

Well, Drain Bead, I remember that thread, and now I feel like I owe you an apology. If I recall correctly, I posted a link to a news article on the incident, and mentioned something about lack of the "good samaritan effect." But I didn't know Sentinel's history at all, and would have to echo Wally's sentiments regarding your ability to defend yourself.

I'd like to think I would have responded (you know, "fighting ignorance" and all) if I had noticed those sentiments, but I didn't continue to follow the thread. Vindication is yours.
