Ivory Towers
Here's a story my wife bought home from work last night:
The executives of Proctor & Gamble were famous for their aloofness and snobery toward the underlings of the company. They sequestered themselves on the top two or three floors of the P&G HQ building where an express elevator would take them from a special entrance on the ground floor, so that they would rarely have to mix with the lesser employees. These "executive" floors were referred to as the "Ivory Tower" after one of the companies most popular products. Sounds like BS to me, but I can't find an alternative origin.
