A new and widespread credid card scam. Large companies involved!

Have you bought anything online lately? Check your credit card bill!
Recently, my wife ordered a couple items from Lane Bryants online store. She paid with our check card. Little did she know, they do business with a "web loyalty" outfit called "WLI*Reservation Rewards".

This week, as she was going through our charges, she noticed a $9 charge to this company that we did not authorize. She contacted Lane Bryant, and was told that they would refund our money. It turns out that they have been getting a deluge of people calling about this unauthorized charge. She was told that Lane Bryant was going to be discontinuing their ties with WLI, and are considering legal action against them. I did a little research and have discovered just how freeking HUGE this scam is.

How in the hell can a company do this and not think that people won't catch on? HOW IS THIS NOT FUCKING THEFT?

From the second link, a list of companies that are connected with these filthy theves..

1-800-flowers.com
americangreetings.com
classmates.com
coolsavings.com
half.com (part of eBay)
hotels.com
joann.com
kingsizedirect.com
lillianvernon.com
movietickets.com
myfamily.com
onetravel.com
orbitz.com
priceline.com
riverdeep.com
smartbargains.com
webstakes.com
Brylane Home
Chadwick's
Lane Bryant
MapBlast
MyLotto
MyPoints
SandBox
Time-Life
Walter Drake
ZDNet
and, perhaps, amazon.com and expedia.com

Webloyalty sites are: travelvaluesplus.com, buyerassurance.com, reservationrewards.com, and pcprotectionplus.com

If you have done online business with ANY of these companies, look at your credit card bills or check card charges VERY carefuly for any unauthorized charges to a WLI*Reservation Rewards. Chances are, you've been stolen from as well.

Well, I don't know if it would have happened or not, but I just cancelled my AmericanGreetings account. This made me realize that I haven't been using that account enough to justify the cost, and it was due for renewal in a few days.

Something similar happened to my wife at Suncoast where she bought a DVD. We usually don't even trade there, but this was for Christmas and they're the only ones who had it. There was an additional $24.99 charge on her card the next month. The only identifying mark was a 1-800 number. We called the number and got no answer, so we called the CC company and reported it as an erroneous charge. Come to find out Suncoast was in bed with some magazine outfit and we'd just been subscribed to Entertainment Weekly. Found out they only do it if you're using a credit card; needless to say we vowed to only use a check or cash at that place from now on. I understand now that Suncoast has gone outa biz. I understand why.

I've had my account about that length of time, too, Reb. But I've just gotten out of the habit of sending E-cards. I'll bet I didn't send 3 in the last year. I've never had billing problems with them, this article just prompted me to check my account and when I realized it was due in a few days and I hadn't been using it, I decided to cancel it.

It wasn't the e-cards I was using so much Cat. It was the create and print feature. I bet I printed out 200 cards last year.
