Ashlee Simpson’s new show…

I just read about Ashlee in us weekly. Those guys at the football game were total jerks. She said she wishes the critics will pick on someone else and i agree. Do you think MTV is gonna play the boo on her show? It's on after Newlyweds again right? I hope they let her tell her side!

I'm sure I speak for 2-3 people here when I say,

Ashley who?

dabum, if you were Canadian you wouldn't be asking that question.
MuchMusic (our version of MTV) plays nothing but Jessica and Ashley Simpsons shows. All day, every day.
An hour of "Newlyweds" then an hour of "The Jessica Simpson Show"
Then repeat.

It's horrible.

Ah. Glad I'm missing out then.

I've heard a little of Jessica Simpson (none of her music, I'm afraid), but the only thing I can think of that I've even heard mention of about Ashley Simpson is a SNL screwup (She was lipsyncing on stage? Doesn't everyone?).

Of course, when you get your news via the Daily Show & People Magazine, you can only expect so much...

Yeah, judging from the shrieks and bleatings from posters over on the SDMB, you'd have thought she'd killed and bar-b-cued puppies onstage.

Also, it doesn't say very much when those very same posters didn't shriek and bleat when Eminem screwed up exactly like Simpson did. I particularly recall one incredibly stupid Doper who said, paraphrased, " Enimem is an established star/musician, so he gets some slack cut for him, while Simpson, being a newbie to the business doesn't."

WTF?!!?

Where the hell do you go to learn that kind of twisted logic?

If anything Eminem should be the one getting shrieked and bleated at, since as he is "an established star/musician" he should be good enough not to have to use pre-recorded vocals.

Lots of people use pre-recorded vocals to augment live performances. It's tacky but not shocking.

Now, when caught, she blamed her band, which was pretty lame. But what do you expect? Isn't she about 17?

I don't know why she generates any reaction at all. She is bubblegum teenybopper pop, and she'll probably disappear soon enough.

I know the name, but didn't even know she was a singer. I'm so dreadfully out of the loop.

Does this mean I'm old?

Meh. I suspected as much, but didn't care enough to go check. The death penalty thread OP is spam too.

That's gross. If something's cool, it's cool. I can't believe that people get paid to try to manipulate the forums I like.

I'll never watch Ashlee's show, and I'll just download her music so she doesn't get any money.

Well, to be honest Reb, I don't know, but I strongly suspect. I've seen it before: somebody shows up on a forum, their first and only post is plugging a TV show, in the guise of starting a discussion about whatever the show is about. And they always include time and channel of the show. It happened a while back with a show about police psychics or something. If somebody cared enough, they could Google some of the phrases in the other one and find identical OPs on other boards.

I can almost guarantee that neither mandy nor whatshisname who started the GF one will be back.

But on the other hand, who really cares? If it starts an interesting discussion, well, the discussion has merit on its own, right?

This was the other thread I was thinking about: Can psychics really see the past/future? . Turned into rather an amusing thread after Nu Vo outed the OP.

That one was Court TV also. Seems to be a major advertsising strategy for them. Some folks at another board got on their shit for it: Freethought Forum: Viral Marketing and Why Court TV Sucks.

Mandy? But she gave and she gave without taking....

are we sending her away? Oh Mandy!

Sorry... the OP gave me this song that's been stuck in my head. I know you wanted to have it too...

Melis-- who probably should be hiding right about now...

Hint #1 that something is spam.

The formatting doesn't fit.

Line breaks are way too short in the Death Penalty thread's OP for Fathom's formatting. It was C&P'd from elsewhere.

Over at The SDMB there's some discussion this is the new way to spam. Personally, I don't get it.

Ohhhh, and I've responded twice in the death penalty thread in Grand Forum.

Still think if the topic is naturally discussionable it'll stir the membership up, so maybe this is not a bad thing.
