Not on purpose, of course. I've been meaning to post this for ages.

There's a neat blog that posts new "optical illusions" 3-4x/week. Some of the illusions are ho-hum; some are really quite good. Some aren't optical illusions at all.

I subscribe to it on my Yahoo! page, but I believe any RSS reader should be able to get it for you.

http://www.moillusions.com/

Here's a couple that are particularly good:
http://www.moillusions.com/2009/11/b...sion-ever.html
http://www.moillusions.com/2009/11/a...-illusion.html

I should probably post this in the admin threads, but I really just want to know whether it has happened to anyone else.

I got an email today...

I should probably post this in the admin threads, but I really just want to know whether it has happened to anyone else.

I got an email today telling me that there's been a new post to the "Are their [sic] calories in envelope adhesives?" The thread hasn't been posted to since 2005, and I wrote the last post. There was no new post, least of all, by "adhesive tape," who does not even appear in the members list.

I suppose the person could have been banned and had all his or her posts removed, although Opal doesn't usually remove a banned member's posts, IIRC, other than single, offensive posts, or those advertising posts. (Pan pal, anyone? Cheap gas cards?) The post quoted in the email seemed inoffensive, if pretty irrelevant, since it was posted 4 years after the last post.

So is this happening to anyone else? Or am I special?

I got this idea from the long-distance-relationship "dates" that Rob used to have with his overseas girlfriend. They (well, she reallly) would pick a recipe and both cook the same meal at the same time on the same night, then eat at the same time while watching the same thing on TV (generally through the internet, I think.)

Anyway, removing the "date" element, I was thinking this could be an interesting thing to try out on Fathom. The general idea would be that whoever was "hosting" that supper would provide the recipe, and then on the same night, anyone interested in joining in would fix that for dinner. Then either later that night or in the days following, we could all share our experiences with the meal. Anyone with food restrictions (such as myself, being a vegetarian, or someone who was allergic to an ingredient) could make substitutions to the recipe and still be considered to be participating.

Does that sound interesting to anyone? It would be a fun and less vague way to share recipes, I think...

Crazy Talk.
Several comics over the last few weeks have had a punchline that goes something like : Well that's just crazy talk.
One had : That's just Glenn Beck crazy talk.
Where is this from? I am guessing Sienfeld, but don't know how I would find out.
Barnes and Noble has introduced its new e-book reader. It is called the Nook. That is it is the Nook e-book. Did no one at B&N ever say that out loud?

A Facebook friend of mine posted this report as evidence that people who talk about the earth getting warmer are full of, umm, excrement. It's a report from NOAA that talks about October 2009 being one of the coolest Octobers on record.

Now, the objective person will obviously want more than one month's data. Even in a warming period, it seems logical to me that it will get cool every now and then. Or not. Since I'm extraordinarily busy right now, I haven't the time to go digging. However, I will be able to spend time reading whatever other Fathomites find, so bring it on!

Side note: I have observed that for the most part, whether or not an American believes in global warming can be predicted by said American's political persuasion. Democrats and other liberals generally believe it is true, and Republicans and other conservatives generally believe it is not true. Why? What the hell do political policies have to do with whether or not the planet is getting hotter?

I still like getting postcards and money. Stocks and bonds not so much.
Speaking of postcards, I haven't been able to do any type of cards (birthday, greeting, and holiday) for almost a year now, just don't have the money for it. I've missed a lot of birthdays. :(
Not that anyone here is likely to do so, but don't drop by unannounced. My neighborhood isn't exactly safe. It's not really unsafe, sort of in between. Also it would be nice if I showered for company. :surgo:
